Goochland Community Action Program
The Goochland Community Action Program is an organization that works to reduce poverty and improve the lives of individuals and families within the Goochland community. Using federal funding, we support initiatives and programs aimed at education, employment, housing, and child care. These services are designed to help people become more self-sufficient and reduce poverty’s effects within the community.
The GCAP Board allocates federal and state resources to the highest priorities within our community. We meet once every two months to evaluate the effectiveness of our current programs and initiate new programs for our community. Our tripartite board has three types of representatives: government-appointed, low-income, and private-sector. Are you interested in serving your community? Would you like to serve on the GCAP Board? Contact us.
Does your organization have a program that aligns with GCAP’s mission to provide services and resources that will educate, empower, and promote self-sufficiency, self-esteem, and personal dignity? Consider applying for a GCAP grant. We are actively looking for initiatives that address transportation and unemployment. Contact us.
Each year, we invite eligible non-profit organizations, local education agencies, and religious organizations to submit a request for proposal (RFP) to use Goochland Community Action funds. Applications for these funds provide details about the program, the population and number being served, and the proposed objectives and benefits of the program. Submit applications to Kimberly Jefferson, Director of Goochland Social Services and Goochland Community Action, at kjefferson@goochlandva.us. For more information on applying for these funds, please call Ms. Jefferson at 804-556-5880.
