Job training programs encourage job seekers to increase their knowledge, skills, and abilities in the workforce to improve their marketability, career advancement, and income. Goochland residents can apply for financial assistance to help pay tuition costs for a variety of job training and workforce development programs. Many of these programs offer certifications in the fields of health care, business administration, management, technology, manufacturing, and trades. Contact us for more information.
Summer camp programs offer a wide range of educational classes, recreational classes and groups, and a variety of programs that promote health, wellness, exercise, education, sports, and hobbies for children and youth in Goochland County. After-school programs provide youth, kindergarteners through the fifth grade, a safe, positive, and structured environment where children can participate in educational and recreational activities each day after school. The programs also provide socialization activities, and some programs offer limited assistance with homework. After-school programs also help parents and guardians maintain full-time employment without worrying about their child’s well-being. The home repair program helps clients maintain a safe and healthy living environment. This program is managed by our partners at Goochland Cares. The Brown Bag Program is administered by County Line Baptist Church. The program provides a bag of food for eligible students to take home over the weekend when school meals aren’t being served, ensuring access to nutritious foods every day of the week. This program expects to serve 30 students per week at Byrd and Randolph Elementary Schools.
